KISSing in the Cruise Ship Hot Tub

Well that was a blast!

Just got back from an epic cruise to the Bahamas.

Never been on one before so wasn’t sure what to expect.

Being surrounded with beautiful weather, beautiful beaches and beautiful women is quite a recharging experience.

If you haven’t taken one I strongly suggest looking into it – you can snag some great deals if you hunt online.

One thing I’m a sucka for is hot tubs.

Was relaxing in one when one of the fellas in it started chattin about workin out.

As he delved into what he was doing my eyes started to glaze over.

Not from the frozen margaritas.

But getting lost in the complexity of his explanation of super-sets with chest day and drop-sets with arms followed up by dumbbell day.

Wha?

He want to know what I thought.

I asked him one simple question & he looked at me like I had two heads.

“Do you take a protein shake after you workout?”

No he did not.

Sigh.

I remember when I used to get trapped in the ‘shiny object’ workout syndrome too.

Try this new exercise, this new supplement, this new trick and the ‘body’ is yours.

All they add up to is massive complexity which leads to minimum results (if any).

Once I went backwards and took the KISS (keep it simple stupid) approach, everything changed.

Spent less time in the gym.

Less time on nutrition.

Which lead to faster muscle gain.

Just by taking everything in one bite at a time.

Which is why A Spartan Rises is the only training experience that progressively trains and teaches you.  So it stays simple, you stay actionable and your physique doesn’t stay the same.

Just like David P. discovered

“These weekly segments have been awesome, by the way.  Keeps it simple with steady progression that is more attainable.  I finally feel like I am making progress.”

Instant Fix to Transform from Skinny to Spartan

It’s kinda strange.

Being skinny never really bothered me.

Perhaps cuz like most high school teens I tended to live out of my own fantasy world.

But in the REAL world I weighed a measly 135 lbs.

As in, one strong gust of wind or a misdirected sneeze and gumby would go bye bye!

A few years after college I had reached the all-massive sum of 160.

At 5’ 9” that combo doesn’t quite equal a masculine muscular frame.

Like most guys, I was hitting the gym.

Eating right.

But the scale stubbornly refused to budge.

That is, until I focused on what I discovered to be the deciding factor in building a hard Spartan physique.

Once I turned my attention to this the scale shot up and CLEAN muscle mass begin packing on.

Surprisingly enough it WASN’T:

Nutrition

Some special exercise or

Motivation

It even trumps genetics and family health history.

Yes, all those are important, but they’re not the essential ingredient.

What is it then?

STRENGTH.

The stronger you get, the more everything else falls into place.

Muscle balance improves, aches & pains fade away and it’s muchhh easier to gain lean muscle (plus burn off fat).

Side effects include bulletproof confidence, boosted energy levels, deeper relationships and greater stress management… to name a few.

Your strength literally is the tide that raises all ships in life.

As the focal point of your training it will accelerate your gains faster than you ever imagined.

And with less time required.

A true win-win.

Just don’t be like most guys who rush out and try to lift the heaviest they can, sacrificing form.

Or they start doing 1-5 reps because that is the ‘strength’ range.

Or they try complex workout routines because they think they can “shock” their muscles into growth.

But I teach the opposite of that.

I teach simple Spartan strength training.

For example: In A Spartan Rises the very first module introduces you to The Spartan Strength Ladder.

You’ll discover the proper method to increasing your strength in order to build a Spartan body.

It’s A-B-C simple and very powerful for muscle building… plus the fat loss which naturally follows.

If You Build This, The Muscles Will Come

This arrived from Joe, my comments to follow:

“These emails really are keeping me from quitting.

Seeing something in my inbox every day means you’ve invested me (even from across the country!), and that’s what’s been missing.

You’re indirectly teaching me to believe in myself, and, even in Week 1, it’s making a huge difference.”

Yup.

That’s just ONE of the reasons A Spartan Rises includes the Spartan Doctore mindest coaching e-mails.

They’re for men who are serious about their training (and aren’t simply farting around in the gym).

Over 37+ of ’em loaded with my best secret mindset programming and training tips that are never shared publicly.

Not YouTube, not here.

Reserved only for the privileged Spartan trainees.

Covers all kinds of topics, here’s a few:

  •  How to Win the Bloodsport of Life
  •  Spartans Do Not “Workout”
  •  Escape the Ideal Black Pit of Despair
  •  How to Become an Unstoppable Force

Cuz if you wanna build a real Spartan physique it takes more than just pushing around some weight.

If some guy doesn’t have his mindset in the right place he’ll never build the right habits or make the necessary changes for a Spartan physique & commanding presence.

Actually, this is one reason I created A Spartan Rises.

It has a built-in mindset coaching to unlocking the body of your dreams. Believe it or not, training your mind is more important than body. I KNOW that sounds backwards. But it’s not. And you can experience it for yourself (at my risk) at:

How to Forge an Unforgettable Impression

Read an interesting news article the other day.

Talked about a study of leadership ability undermined by a larger waistline.

The study found that weight influences perceptions of leaders among their subordinates, peers and superiors.

“Executives with larger waistlines and higher body-mass-index readings tend to be perceived as less effective in the workplace, both in performance and interpersonal relationships, according to data compiled by CCL. BMI, a common measure of body fat, is based on height and weight.”

Key word there is PERCEIVED.

As in first impression.

It matters.

If you’re the type of man in any sort of leadership position (or considering stepping into once) – whether children, loved one, co-workers, employees or simply yourself…

Your current level of fitness says something about you.

I’m not saying it’s right or fair, but people make snap judgements about us simply by our physique and how we carry ourselves.

So while you can’t change people you CAN change yourself.

And changes are often come with hidden costs, like Scott discovered.

Scott is one of the Spartans in my elite one-on-one coaching program.

He told me the other day he has to go buy all new jeans now because the 36’s are too big.

New shirts are gonna be needed too.

It’s the equivalent of shedding your old self, for the new and improved 2.0 version.

It feels good, and is worth the effort and sweat required, just like Cameron discovered:

“You have already impacted my training in an amazing way. My friends are saying, “Seriously, are you working out a lot because you’re looking bigger”. And I’m not a real big guy to start with. Also I feel great. All of the resources in your toolkit are also amazing, and I realize that this an extremely solid program. Thanks again for everything, Ryan. I look forward to continuing to be a dedicated Spartan and partner in strength training. Thanks brother!”

How to Be Successful By Failing More

Rejected

Shot Down in Front of a Crowd

Phew.

Had a blast the other night bustin out a lil Country 2 Step & West Coast Swing.

It’s virtually a given you’re going to meet pretty girls and chill people on the dance floor.

This night something happened I wasn’t expecting.

(But we all face it in one way or another.)

I stepped off the dance floor and noticed a girl sitting by her lonesome at the bar table.

I remembered seeing her earlier dancing by herself so I figured I’d ask her to dance since no one else had.

So I strolled page a large crowd next to her, put out my hand, smiled and said,

“Would you like to dance?”

She looked up at me and replied,

“I don’t like this song”.

Goodness gracious.

I don’t even know what was playing, it’s all the same to me.

“Ok, how about the next one then?” I threw out without skipping a beat.

“No.”

By now the crowd had stopped talking and were all staring as the Doctore stood there empty handed.

Zing!

“Ok, have a nice night” I managed to say as I backed away.

Later my buddies started asking what I was going to do now that I was blown off in front of everyone.

Umm… nothing?

It happens, it’s natural and comes with the territory.

Some chicks say no.

The reasons don’t matter, most the time they’re outta your influence anyways.

But you still ask.

You still move forward.

You don’t stop at the first no and scream “OMG this is all over with I’m done!”.

That would be silly.

Besides, you’ve dealt with the same thing.

(Maybe you’re even struggling with it now)

Whether it’s a new job, new mate, or new workout.

It’s NEVER smooth sailing from start to finish.

There are always NO’s.

The fellas who succeed are the ones who keep moving forward in spite of NOT in absence of.

And when you ingrain this mindset via the lessons taught in A Spartan Rises.

You become truly unstoppable.

Just like Scott C. discovered,

===

“Over the years I’ve tried several other popular weight training programs, but quickly lost motivation and never stuck with them past a month.

With Ryan’s Spartan training program this hasn’t been a problem.  I’ve been consistently working out for over 4 months and don’t plan on stopping anytime soon.  I actually look forward to working out!”

How to Be King of Your Jungle

Gorillas are strange creatures.

Every day, they build a new bed nest (from scratch) to sleep in. What a waste of time!

But man, if you’re the alpha gorilla you got it MADE:

* First dibs on food (even if supplies are low)

* You’re center of attention, get to make all decisions… everyone else obediently follows

* Sleep 13 hours a day

* Exclusive breeding rights with ALL the females in the troop (HELLO!)

Now these pleasantries aren’t simply handed over.

No no no.

Gotta earn, protect & defend it.

First sign of trouble the dominant gorilla will FEROCIOUSLY beat its chest like Niel Peart bustin loose in YYZ.

The bigger the chest, the more would-be threats stop to think twice. It’s a powerful symbol that instantly tells them this dude doesn’t mess around. Not an easy pushover.

And they SCRAM.

Nature’s funny like that. Predators prey on the weak… they don’t want a fair fight.

Humans are like that too. Now, nobody’s gonna come out and attack you to take over your troop… but you deal with plenty of territorial disputes every day.

* Boss trying to pile on extra work he “told you about” last week

* Over caffeinated sales guy pushing you to add on the extra 5 year protection plan

* Co-workers who ‘know’ everything, yet actually DO very little (instead they tell you)

Goes on & on and can even make you feel stuck, trapped.

When will they start listening?

When will you get noticed?

When is enough, enough?

Today.

It starts in the fires of iron. The deep belly of the gym.

Where you build your chest that assertively and silently projects to those around you.. woah this guy is for real, shut-up & pay attention!

Go getcha some. Join A Spartan Rises.

PS – And you know what? One of the best (and simplest) ways to build a chest that commands respect is to follow my Muscle Growth Formula.

How Spartan kings extracted maximum ROI from their training

“Immortals… we put their name to the test.”

Was watchin me some 300 recently.

In case you haven’t heard of it (say wha??), it’s a pretty sweet flick you should add to the que.

Named after the number of kick-butt Spartan’s who fought off thousands of invading Persians during the Battle of Thermopylae.

King Leonidas took 300 of his BEST men.

Didn’t need hordes of ‘em.

That woulda slowed everything down and rendered them stagnant.

Just the most punishing & effective to get the job done.

Which is also best way to approach building a lean Spartan physique if:

You have a hectic work schedule…

You have a family…

You are trying to balance work, free time, and working out in a healthy way…

Cuz we don’t want you wasting hours of your time suffering through trendy, virtually useless exercises.

No no no.

Only the most hard-hitting, brute force building will do if you’re busy and need to make every minute, every drop of sweat count.

When you combine those with your Spartan Strength Ladder…

Yikes.

You become an unstoppable powerhouse channeling a clear & focused purpose.

Discovering strength you never knew existed, was just lying dormant that whole time.

What about you?

Want to maximize your training with the most effective exercises?

Then I suggest mastering the Spartan Strength fundamentals.

It’s not very hard. And, it often yields quick results. It’s what A Spartan Rises is all about.

Get lots of questions on motivation.

Get lots of questions on motivation.

How do stay motivated?

Where does it come from?

How can I become MORE motivated and stick with it?

It’s a serious issue too.

Cuz if some fella can’t keep himself motivated, well, he’s not gonna stick with whatever training he set out to do.

And so his body (and life) don’t change.

He just bobbles up and down like a cork floating in the ocean.

But self-motivation doesn’t spring from wishful thinking, YouTube clips or the latest heart-pumping song.

It does come from within YOU… but it begins as a tiny flame that can easily be snuffed out from a strong gust of wind.

To make that fire burn brighter you need to fan the flame.

And you do that by measuring and making progress.

If there is no measurement, you have no idea whether something is working (or not).

And your motivation will disappear like a thief in the night.

But when you set goals, and MEASURE your progress to them correctly (as taught in A Spartan Rises).

Those tiny embers erupt into an eternal flame that cannot be doused.

It should be pretty obvious the impacts of this go beyond some time in the gym.

Just like Geir L. from Norway reported,

===

“…then I got myself a steady relationship, got three daughters.

Yes, tripplets. They are now 3 1/2 years old.

All those years without training, partying, smoking, kids…

My body has gotten fatter and fatter, and really fat. This could not continue, I had to do something. Do i really want to grow old looking like a fat pig?

I had almost forgotten what to do in the gym. And lack of motivation… Until i stumbled across Ryan Masters on YouTube and decided to try your Spartan Training.

Tomorrow I have my last Spartan training session.

With only the Spartan training alone I have lost 10KG (22 lbs)!

And I have huge muscle and strength gains. Im still climbing the ladder fast.

You have lifted my motivation so much, just going through the spartan training had changed it all.

Your ability to motivate is just incredible! I just hope it stays this way in the future.”

Gain More Lean Muscle by Training Less

I keep bangin this drum.

Complex workouts are not only unnecessary, they often set you back further than put you ahead.

‘Cuz they have you focusing on the wrong stuff.

That 20% trivial that barely moves your muscle needle.

Instead of zeroing in on what really matters.

Like the ancient Spartans did.

See they weren’t crazy warriors with complex, choreographed swordplay moves.

No no no.

In fact, suicidal recklessness, berserkery, and even rage were FORBIDDEN in a Spartan army, as these behaviors endangered the phalanx.

Put the whole unit at risk.

Spartans regarded those who fight, while still wishing to live, as more honorable than those who don’t care if they die.

They believed that a warrior must not fight with raging anger, but with calmed determination.

With focus and purpose my man.

In other words, you shouldn’t try to set personal bests every time you lift by going into a terrible range.

You also shouldn’t dilute your energy by following complex workouts, but instead build lean muscle mass by following a few simple guidelines.

How do you know if you’re trapped in a complex workout?

Simple if it:

Has you training more than 4 days a week

Has a different routine each day of week

Uses more than 15 exercises

Takes more than 50 minutes

Requires any type of super, drop, or giant sets

Combines lifting with cardio

Then it’s sucking away your time , energy and MUSCLE.

Leaving you spinning your wheel like a mad hamster.

But I teach the opposite of that.

I teach simple, focused strength progression in A Spartan Rises.

It begins with your first lesson on The Spartan Strength Ladder.

Once you discover this lil technique, you’ll find yourself getting stronger every workout.

You’ll also be surprised at how simple the Spartan training method actually is.

And you’ll finally pack on some lean muscle (without adding fat).

Just like Corey W. posted in The Spartan Stronghold:

“I have been training for awhile but this program has helped me make some great gains in areas that I seemed to plateau at.

The ladder system of training is great way to gain more.

I have in 6 weeks went from approx 180 to 190 on weight gain.”

For Busy Guys, This Works Like Crazy

More proof I speaketh the truth:

============

I am a senior executive with a demanding travel schedule so any “program” that required me to be at the gym to fulfill a prescribed set of exercises with select equipment appeared to be an impossible endeavor.

I was truly intrigued by Ryan’s Spartan trilogy of strength and fitness. His wisdom was literally the “keys to the kingdom” of my desire to obtain a healthy, strong and resilient body that I pursued for years to allow me to achieve my personal goals and yet never attained.

But this same trilogy was my potential nemesis.

I was doubtful that I would be able to adopt Ryan’s teachings and disciplines provided in the Spartan Program because of my travel schedule. But not succeeding in my desire to improve my strength and fitness goals was not an option. I knew I had to find a way to succeed.

And it wasn’t as daunting as I had imagined.  With Ryan’s inspiration and coaching I was able to redesign my demanding business travel existence and actually support my strength and fitness objectives.

Which by the way as of today…. at age 60, I have six pack abs, 10.7% body fat and more muscle than I had in my 30’s….

Thanks to Ryan Masters and the Spartan program…

==============

Now there’s the story of a guy who chose NOT to be a victim of circumstance.

Grabbin life by the horns – the Spartan way.

Here’s the deal…

We ALL got battles to fight.

Time demands

Travel demands

Family demands

Social demands

Work demands

… it piles up on your shoulders reaallll quick.

Can feel pretty overwhelming at times too.

Now, you can let those pressures dictate and direct your life.

That’s one way to go (not recommended).

It’s not fun.

Usually pretty stressful.

The other is stop bending to the wind.

Start becoming the centerpiece and controlling force of YOUR life.

It’s easier than you think.

But it takes more than a workout.

A workout is simply a series of motions your body goes through.

That ain’t gonna cut it.

That’s why A Spartan Rises goes well beyond ‘the workout’.

It was designed specifically to help you break through any hidden mental and physical roadblocks that are holding you back.

Just like Joe discovered and is now in the best shape of his life and loving every minute it.

As well he should!

He worked hard, invested in himself and earned it.

You can too.
