Why I Don’t Answer Emails

This might ruffle a few feathers.

But hey the truth is harsh and reality is often worse ;).

Some guy got his panties in a bunch and was sending me nasty e-mails ‘cuz I didn’t “answer” his first one.

These fellas always crack me up.

Oh how entitled they are to everything!

Here’s a newsflash.

You’re entitled to one thing in this life…

That’s it.

So when I get emails like this:

“Hi, can you give me an advice im trying to get fit, so i run do some lifting and play some sports, but how can i get bigger muscles,i mean what can i eat to get to achieve that.”

I hit delete faster than the speed of light.

(well actually my assistant does)

Not ‘cuz he’s a bad dude or evil for asking me questions… that’s totally normal and sometimes I’ll throw them in a Q&A email.

But because he’s LAZY.

It’s EASY to fire off an email ‘hey! how do i get abs?’

That takes no work, no sacrifice.

It takes a little bit of WORK to omigosh… search my YouTube channel and go through a few videos to discover I’ve already answered the question.

So why in the world would I waste my time responding to that lack of effort e-mail when I have thousands of men around the world diligently working hard at improving themselves every day?

Exactly.  I don’t.

The lesson for you is this – GUARD YOUR TIME.

Cuz if you don’t protect it and value it… SOMEONE will take it.

Not out of spite or malicious intent, but simply because they don’t know better (because YOU haven’t set the boundaries…)

I know my time is worth $500.00 an hour.

That’s what my clients at Squeeze Juice Marketing regularly pay me to help grow their e-commerce businesses online.

So no, I will not drop what I’m doing to answer some afterthought workout question e-mail.

But what I WILL do is help men HELP THEMSELVES.

Build a strong masculine physique in the fastest way possible (still takes WORK).

That’s what I’m here for.

This Made Me Laugh

Got a funnnnny comment yesterday.

Wonder if you’ll agree?

It was during the Live Q&A of my Muscle Growth Formula Master Class.

We’d hammered through some great questions on:

* What supplements actually work? (which ones I’ve taken that helped)

* Best approach for getting under 10% bodyfat?

* Should you take your last rep to failure?

* Effective cardio for fat loss but keeping muscle?

Eventually guys started digging into MY transformation, what I did, how long, did I drink? The whole caboodle.

That’s when Faithon (all the way from Greece) piped in;

“You were also pissed in the first videos! And now you are just hyper happy… transforming your body surely transformed your mood!”

Man oh man.

I was cracking up. Funny because it’s kinda true.

Watching earlier videos might make you wince from my stone cold personality. But it wasn’t cuz I was mad.

I just didn’t know how to talk on camera yet, it was NEW to me. But I kept plugging away, every week.. and while you wouldn’t call me a pro you can SEE a noticeable difference.

Well guess what?

Same concept applies to YOU and your WORKOUTS.

Sure in the beginning you may be fumbling all over the place, unsure if you’re doing the right things… not seeing much happen.

BUT if you stick with it, the changes will come!

Now, they’ll come a lot FASTER if you get the right kinda help.

But ya can’t quit.

You’re all you’ve got man, don’t you deserve the best?

I will answer that for you: HELL TO THE YES.

Get in there and get it done.

Spartans! Today We Lift Like…

No fireworks or tips today.

Just a quickie announcement:

A Spartan Rises training program is now available. Early birds scooped it up like crazy this weekend.

“Ryan, is this REALLY any good? Is it
REALLY worth the hoopla and

Then here are a few (unsolicited) testimonials on my unique Spartan training methods:

I’m loving the Spartan Ladder it’s a really great concept and its progressing along quite well.Since I started your program and i’ve shed almost 8lbs in three weeks which is awesome.

Thanks for all your help!”
~Chris P.

“I was a tid bit hesitant to purchasing you’re course, but after was very impressed and happy I did.

There was so much information, it took me some time to watch and re watch your videos. But when I heard what was included, it was a no brainer.

A fool would pass it up!

I’ve officially quit soda and drink only water and I’ve never felt healthier. I’m working on counting my calories but somedays I’m better than others.
And I’m getting closer to that 6 pack and 3D chest!

Keep up the great work.”
~Clayton C

“Before I met you, it was really easy to drift along with the latest fad diet…?There was “starve yourself until the afternoon,” “work out two hours everyday,” “take this supplement or that supplement,” or some of all.

It is really hard to sift through all the stuff to find what works.

A twenty year old can cheat and do just about anything and still look good. As for me at 54, it is an effort every day to not gain weight.

What I like about your program is that it teaches you to help your own body and to learn your own metabolism. Somebody may say they are doing this or that, but I now know what works for me.?

The system fits into everyday life easily. It is not hard and not time consuming.

Actually, I found myself having more free time when following your nutrition and exercise program while still seeing better results with my workouts.”
~Dr Stephen B.

“With the use of Ryan’s Spartan training program, and his personal coaching, I’ve lost over 16 lbs and am getting closer to reaching my target goal weight.

Over the years I’ve tried several other popular weight training programs, but quickly lost motivation and never stuck with them past a month. With Ryan’s Spartan training program this hasn’t been a problem. I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon… I actually look forward to working out!

The Spartan training program is simple but yet very effective.

Ryan has a wealth of information he shares in a structured way so you never feel overwhelmed. He gradually adds things into the program which results in more of my own personal achievements. He never forces you to do anything you don’t want, and if you are not able to do something, he will quickly find another way to help you attain the desired results.

Ryan is very motivational and patient to work with.

From all my efforts of following the Spartan training program, I’m seeing more and more results.

I have a leaner, muscular body. My shirt sleeves fit more tightly around the arms when they didn’t before. Pants keep sliding down which require me to tighten the belt one extra notch. My strength has increased significantly, I have more energy, and overall I just feel better. And as an added bonus… I’ve even noticed more women checking me out.

Thanks Ryan!”
~ Scott C, 44

Popular Recipe for Muscle Building Disaster

Let’s do some “Q&A” action today.

Been gettin lots of questions on building up lean, mean muscle mass.

First question…

QUESTION: Hey Ryan, can I get good results by mixing strength and hypertrophy workout? Like 5×5 flat barbell chest workout then followed by 8-12 reps incline db and flys.

RYAN: Ahhh someone’s been surfing those internet forums!

When you start mixing and matching tips you read from one source into another you’ve got a nice recipe for wasted time. Especially if you’re flippin through muscle mags.

Part of what makes a workout effective is the proper structure and flow.

Just like a good song.

If you took the Stairway to Heaven chorus and threw in lyrics from a Justin Bieber song… it wouldn’t quite fly.

QUESTION: Hey Ryan? how long should a gym session last?

RYAN: Workout longer & harder and you’ll see more muscles…?

Not quite.

This is one of those counter-intuitive situations when it comes to building muscle (unfortunately there’s a lot of ’em).

You should be outta there in under 60 minutes flat.

If you’re not it’s a symptom of a bad workout, and wasted time (yours)…

Okay, one more…

QUESTION: Ryan, I’ve been doing bench press, dumbbell push ups and butterflies for my chest, between 8-12 reps x 3 sets, yet my chest? muscles don’t seem to grow. After half a year, I haven’t moved on much when it comes to weight lifted. Any help?

RYAN: Bench is a great exercise for building a bigger chest.

But it’s not the best.

Certainly not the one I’ve used to build mine.

If you’re weight isn’t moving up it’s a symptom you’re doing something wrong.

Sorta like a fever is a symptom that your body is fighting off a disease. You won’t know what disease until you see a doc, but at least you know something’s up.

Worst course of action is to keep doing what you’ve always done, that will leave you with the same body you have now but less energy and motivation.

To diagnose what pieces you’re missing join me tomorrow as I teach my Muscle Growth Formula.

You’ll see exactly what mistakes have been holding you back your gains and how to correct them before starting your next training session. For driven men only.

YOU have a unique situation, body chemistry, exercise

Ya know it’s kinda funny.

Right now – YOU have a unique situation, body chemistry, and goals in life.

I think it’s nutzo to dispense the generalized, “one size fits all” fitness advice since a quick trip to the locker room reminds you everyone isn’t exactly clone copies of each other.

We all look different… and we all need to eat a little differently.

This is a huge key to transforming yourself WITHOUT torture!

If you are giving your body exactly what it needs, you don’t have to starve it to death or beat it into submission.

In fact, losing weight, looking better and getting in shape can be surprisingly natural and fulfilling when you stop fighting and punishing yourself.

If you have struggled with losing weight, looking fit and making heads turn all your life, it might not even be your fault (assuming you put some WORK in).

It’s more likely that be that none of the cookie-cutter advice you got matched your unique needs.

This was what I struggled with when I created my Food Intake Breakthrough (included with A Spartan Rises).

That’s why I created the 3 Dials System that adapts specifically to your bodies needs.

It’s 80% easier to implement than almost anything else you’ve ever tried.

This breaks things down to simple, actionable steps so you can see definite progress.

In about 21 days, your wife, girlfriend and even co-workers will start to ask you if you’ve been working out, and they’ll be wondering what you’re doing.

But you’ll notice the difference yourself in as little as 7 days.

Here’s some of what you’ll see:

* You DO get to eat desserts, potato chips and junk food (at least some)! I’m just going to ask you eat them before 2pm.

* Your body is going to stop craving crappy food because my program ensures that it gets the nutrition that it needs. Half the reason people crave crappy food is they ate crappy food which left their body hungry. Your body doesn’t really know that it doesn’t want cheesecake. So it lies to you, you believe the lie, and the lie makes you fat.

* Now instead of dreading the gym (because you’re used to feeling tired all the time!), you will surprise yourself by noticing that you look forward to throwing the weights around. The amount of weight you’re lifting will go up, almost by itself.

What your body needs in order to not get cravings is NOT the same as the other guy… or the other guy.

It’s unique to you.

So if you’re tired of going to the gym, putting in more effort than most people, but STILL not seeing results… you know why most people don’t work out!

And the real problem is not the effort, it’s all the other stuff that sabotages the effort.

Now you can get the results you want with 15 minutes a week of planning.

Most of it is all laid out for you, you just need to fill in the blanks by deciding on Sunday what you’d like to eat on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday etc.

That plan saves you from all kinds of last-minute, poorly-made choices that keep you fat and flabby.

Just like Paul reported:

I just wanted to say thank you. Ive been following your workout videos, motivating emails and food intake system for years.

They’ve literally sculpted my life. they way I eat, workout and present myself.

After purchasing your food intake system and following your youtube videos it was all i really needed to get where i wanted to be.

So again thank you. In my opinion you are the best at what you do, which is making an average person into a spartan.

I’m sure I’m not the only one who really appreciates it, you CLEARLY put alot of effort into your followers.

Why You Shouldn’t Ask This Workout Question

Read a funny comment earlier today.

Dude wanted to know “how long” until he’d have a new body trying some exercise program or whatever.

Seems to be a popular question.

And quite easily the worst.

I remember teachers in school tried to tell us there is no such thing as a stupid question… but sometimes I wonder.

Lotsa guys ask that question cuz they’re scared.

Scared to work and put in effort with little to no return.

Hey, no one wants to WASTE their time or energy.

But the root problem with the ol “how long” question is the implication.

The implication that YOU CAN STOP when you “REACH IT”.

Here’s the dirty little secret bud, in two bite size niblets:

I – You never “REACH IT”

II – You never STOP

So going into a body, mind and soul transformation with the cowering position of “how long until I can stop”  slips you up from the get-go.

It’s not a ‘hey lemme try this workout thing’.

It’s a journey.

For some it’s torture, probably akin to wandering the desert alone & dying of thirst.

But for those who are training the trifection (mind body & soul) taught in A Spartan Rises…

They’re having the time of their lives.

Posts are flying out left and right in the Spartan Stronghold community sharing tips, motivation and feedback.

Cuz this stuff is a blast.

Getting better, stronger, more confident every day??

Who doesn’t want that?

The Love of Mass is the Root of All Weakness

This might ruffle some feathers.

But this is much importanto training advice you gotta know.

When it comes to packing on solid muscle mass most guys go about it all wrong.

(which is why their skinny jeans still fit)

Here’s what happens:

They hop on ze internet or flip through their favorite muscle mag and stumbled across ‘You need to do 8-10 reps for size!’ training advice.

Next they rush out to the gym armed with their new 8-10 rep workout.

Doesn’t take long for them to get flustered cuz they’re experiencing little growth.

Not from lack of effort.

Nope nope.

Just misdirected effort.

Cuz the training advice they read is semi-flawed.

Totally skips over the FOUNDATION you must have in order to grow greek-god like muscles.

The foundation is built from STRENGTH.

Just like the great Arnold himself pointed out,

“American magazines wrote about the split routine as if it were my secret: it become the big thing.  Everybody thought that was how I’d grown as much as I had in such a short time…”

…but I was doing heavy squats, heavy bench presses and this provided some of the foundation work of my body, which has always made me appear strong.  Certain bodybuilders lack that look. They have good bodies but don’t appear powerful. The reason is inadequate foundation training.”

Nowadays it’s even more prevalent.

You see tons of ‘big’ guys at gym who look like puffy marshmallows.

Cuz they skipped the foundation training and are doing mostly isolation exercises.

Or loonnnng workout routines.

So instead of dense, rock-solid muscle, they look like they’re smuggling water balloons under their skin.

All that effort gone to waste.

Give me HALF the hours he spent training and I could build him 4x stronger looking physique.

Because A Spartan Rises follows the same proven muscle growing philosophy that worked for Arnold.

And in just 9 weeks you can have your own.

But – it’s really easy to mess this up.

Like just slapping on the heaviest weight you can and lifting.

or doing 3-5 reps for everything because that is the ‘strength range’.

Seems counterintuitive but I did it by doing just a few simple exercises only 3x a week along with the Spartan Strength Ladder.

The Hunt for the Red Hot Summer

Check out this recent e-mail I got.

My comments to follow.

I stumbled upon your programme as so many do, trolling the net for the next best thing, the latest “in” programme.

I expected another 2-6 wk programme promising the earth.

But what I found was not a programme, but a lifestyle.

I was taught that I was on a journey that takes time & focus.

The programme &motivational emails, podcasts ring true & I am able to balance my work, life & gym like never before. The Spartan Strength ladder allows me to accurately monitor my journey whilst my “Spartan Hot Gates” have helped immensely with my food and water intake.

I have nothing but praise for my Doctore Ryan & I would recommend this programme for anyone who is lost in the fitness world.

Excellente, he has repented from his sinful ways of chasing that latest fad.

Hence able to find true balance.

Most guys get caught up in the “new workout” shiny sparkle on their summer abs quest.

Chasing the latest & greatest like a dog after it’s own tail.

Then summer rolls around and so does their belly at the pool.

Cuz slow & steady wins the race… as long as it’s headed in the right direction!

That’s why A Spartan Rises is a lifestyle change.

There are over 177 factors involved in transforming your body.

Do you really think you’re gonna nail them all in one workout?

No way.

Instead we’re going to step-by-step re-wire your brain while your body is packing on muscle.

So you sculpt new physique you can actually keep – without turning your life upside down.

It’s all mindset baby.

Get this right and everything else falls into place.

Skip this… and well… you’ll be skipped over like the hundreds of other average dudes hanging out on the beach.

Choice is yours.

But NOW (not the day before pool opens) is the time to decide.

The Great Soreness Myth

Chattin with a buddy yesterday who recently started lifting.

Said he was soooo sore and when he picked up his kids his arms felt like jello.

Heh, I remember those days (of soreness!)

Soreness is a good thing… but it ain’t the only thing.

Have you ever wondered to yourself…

“Dang, I’m not sore! Wait… does that mean I didn’t work out hard enough?”

Popular question.

Ya see, when you are BRAND NEW to working out you will be sore.

Basically your body isn’t used to being torn down and it fights you by trying to make you feel the pain (ie soreness) so you’ll stop training.

However, just like ignoring a whiny kid, eventually your body quits fighting you and your soreness goes away after workouts.

Of course totally new workouts, rep ranges, angles, etc may bring back some soreness – but here’s the real kicker:

It’s a red herring or false positive.

This is a really tough concept to grasp because you and I FEEL sore.

Since we FEEL IT, our mind tries to trick us into the TRAP of thinking you need to be sore for a good workout.

And WHAT happens?

You start worrying about being SORE.

Which means you stopped worrying about STAYING FOCUSED on FINISHING your training program.

(Which is partly the fault of the program since it didn’t teach you what to focus on)

You may even switch to a new workout…and down the toilet goes your results and motivation because it is an ENDLESS cycle of frustration.

But I teach the opposite of that in A Spartan Rises.

You’ll discover the secret to endless motivation and laser-sharp focus.

We dive right into it in Week 1 of your Doctore coaching videos.

The Case Against Working Out

You read that right.

Let’s mix it up today.

I’m about to make a case AGAINST working out.

Me. Ryan Masters. The guy who has filmed all those YouTube videos about how

to work out more effectively, how to get a 3D chest, how to get the body you’ve

always wanted by working out the right way.

Believe or not, I’m about to make a case against doing all that.

You see, I don’t believe you should do anything unless you’re going to give it your

all. If you’re going to do something half-assed, I say don’t bother. I believe that if

something is REALLY important to you, you should give yourself every chance

to succeed.

I Thought I Was Giving it My All, But I Was Half-Assing It

And for years I THOUGHT I was giving it my all.  I THOUGHT I was working on

my body as hard as I could…giving it 110%.

If anyone had told me I was half-assing it …well, I’m not a violent guy…but let’s just say, I would have disagreed intensely!
But, you know what? If someone told me back then that I was half-assing it, they would have been right.
Sure, I was working out hard.

I was even working out smart.

But I was half-assing it in one extremely important way.

Two Steps Forward, One Step Back…Sometimes Two Steps Back!

The way I was half-assing it was by not getting the food side of my fitness equation

under control.

I would work out hard…then I would undercut all my hard work by not eating right.

And, even though you probably don’t want to hear this: the food side of the equation is MORE important than the working out side if you really want to achieve a head-turning, ripped body.

So, there I was, telling myself I really wanted to look GREAT…telling myself that I wanted a head-turning body…telling myself I wanted to lookamazing with my shirt off.

But every single day my actions contradicted all that.

I know this sounds crazy coming from a guy who loves to work out, but

You might as well stop working out if you’re not serious about getting the food side of the equation down cold.

That’s right.

Just stop it.

All you’re doing is taking one step forward and one step back.

And maybe even worse!

If you’re working out hard and you’re not eating right, you might even be adding stress and strain to your body that makes it LESS healthy and fit.

That’s right, you could be doing all that gym work and making yourself LESS healthy in the process.

Or you can finally get it right.
