How to Tell if It’s Too Late for You

Someone has to write about this.

Since I get emails on it all the time I’ll arrogantly step up to the plate.

Recruits wanna know…

Am I too OLD to train?

Here’s the funny part.

I get variations of that question all ze time.

But it starts like this…

Hi I’m 42…

I’m 46 years old…

Doctore, I just turned 51 and I was wondering…

So when is it too late?

When should you throw in the towel and forget about ever becoming Spartan?

Simple really.

As soon as you tell your mind it’s over.

Cuz anything after that doesn’t matter.

You’ll “see” the world through the (inaccurate) lens that your body cannot change and it’s too late now.

That injuries come faster and everything is slowing down.

Friends, family, your body…

Pretty nasty spiral.

Also totally unnecessary.

Do training requirements and needs change as you get older?

Duh.

Do the PRINCIPLES (as taught in A Spartan Rises) change?

No.

In fact, it’s those Spartan principles that enable you to push through any platuea’s you’re currently help up on.

Like Ray S. discovered… AT 72 son!  (Now lol @ 40 year olds asking about being old…)

===

“Being 72 and a double hip replacement recipient, I was wary about approaching heavy duty standing weight exercises because the new hips are only balls in nylon sockets without anything in between but under Ryan’s tutelage and alternate seated exercises, not only has my weight tolerance has improved substantially I am continuing to develop discernible muscle.

Considering my age this is a vast improvement over previous regimens.

So guys take heart and advise from a person of advancing years and disabilities, follow Ryan’s instructions closely and you too will enjoy the results that I continue to enjoy. Stay with it’ never retreat or surrender.”

===

Yup.

Or what about Joe K.  a Spartan who has climbed to the top of the ranks inside the Spartan Stronghold:

===

“With Ryan’s inspiration and coaching  I was able to redesign my demanding business travel existence and actually support my strength and fitness objectives… which by the way as of today…. at age 60, I have six pack abs, 10.7% body fat and more muscle than I had in my 30’s….  thanks to Ryan Masters and the Spartan program…”

===

So you see my good man, it’s never too late.

Unless YOU’VE given up.

Even I cannot save you then.

But you can save yourself.

For the “how tos” of  building an ironclad Spartan body — where I show you step-by-step how to RISE UP.. and in a way that’s FUN.

Ain’t nothing better.

Unless you (GASP!) hate being a strong alpha male.

How to Survive Invasion of Treadmill Trotters

Here they come!

You know what I’m talking about.

Every year, like clockwork an army of Treadmill Trotters crusade to the closest gym to re-start their fitness quest.

Getting that cardio training in to burn off fat.

Or so they think…

I remember one fella I saw religiously pounding the treadmill.  Each day he spent at least an hour on it, and was drenched it sweat.

Did this for two straight weeks.

Then he disappeared.

Happens all too often.

Why?

Well, cuz long drawn out cardio sessions do burn fat, but…

they take FOREVER!

And the rate of fat loss is almost at a crawl.

So does it work?

Yea, if you have lots of time to throw away have at it.

But that approach didn’t work for me cuz I had three businesses to run.

That’s why I teach my Spartans the Spartan Inferno training approach.

It’s all covered in-depth in A Spartan Rises.

Takes wayyyy less time.

We’re talkin like 15-20 minutes tops.

But it burns much twice as much fat cuz it sends your body into fat burning mode and it STAYS there even after your Inferno Training session is finished.

And ya don’t even need a treadmill.

Let the Trotters keep’em.

Meanwhile your stubborn bodyfat is melting off (finally getting that six-pack to emerge) AND you have more free time.

Just like Chris M. found:

===

“I never imagined my strength could improve so drastically but it did!

And I certainly never imagined I’d have a six pack finally popping out, but I do!

I look forward to this, it’s kept me stable from my 55 + hour work weeks.”

How to Increase Your Lifts by 15%… TODAY

Switchin gears for this special announcement.

If you don’t own a business you can skip this.

Several guys have asked me about how to use a YouTube channel to rapidly expand their business.

Considering YouTube is the 2nd largest search engine in the world (i.e. lotsa EYEBALLS on it) it’s a great question to ask.

And, after spending the past few days with my great friend Antonio Centeno we’ve decided to do something to answer it.

Ya see, combined we’ve built channels with over 14.5+ million views (and are verrry thankful!)

But here’s the thing… we each did it using a different traffic strategy.

We also hits tons of bumps and hiccups along the way.

We’re thinking about teaching a VERY SMALL number of aggressive business owners how to use our same proven methods to accelerate their own business growth.

More details coming soon…

How Fitness Magazines Scam Your Face Off

This always cracks me up.

Then I think about how many guys buy into it and I get sad.

So today we’re gonna riff on it.

It’s the cover of those fitness mags… and why they get away with LYING to your face.

I’m sure you’ve seen the claims slapped all across’em:

  • Big Arms FAST!
  • Lean in 28 Days – Ripped Without Cardio
  • Pack on 10 lbs of LEAN MUSCLE in 30 Days!
  • Six Pack Abs (with this one Unique Move)

Well that all sounds swell but… who’s standing behind these claims?

On top of that, did you know 90% of the authors aren’t pictured.

The articles always use roided up bodybuilders.  So you don’t even know the man behind the words.

So what does the guarantee consist of for these claims?

Oh wait – there is none!

Can you even can return magazines?

You might be thinking:

Well not like anyone would because let’s be honest, its just a few bucks Doctore.

True.

But its costing you WAY more than that…

YOUR TIME.

PLUS compounding onto that is incomplete, improper or flat out false training advice.

These are some serious stakes.

(If your time is valuable)

It’s why guys can go for years working out and see little to no muscle definition.

This is also why I personally stand behind you & your training in A Spartan Rises.

I know you’ll see more lasting muscle growth and confidence on completion of this experience than ever before.

So I have no qualms telling you if at any time during your Spartan training you aren’t feeling 100% confident in your growth & progress, or aren’t seeing the results you want, then you’ll get a FULL refund.

Have I had guys take me up on this?

Yup.

And my assistant Scarlett happily gets their moolah back asap.

Now, none of them actually completed the training.

They (for one reason or another) decided it wasn’t for them.

Hey, it happens, I understand.

Not often, but it does.

But if you’re a man who finishes what he starts & wants to sculpt an eye-catching Spartanesque physique then let’s do this.

How can I build the most mass in the least amount of time

Came across an interesting quote the other day.

From ol’ Reg Park.

Ya know, one the first bodybuilders.

He was one of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s idols, in fact, Reg was what INSPIRED Arnold to get into bodybuilding.

Anyways, this is what Reg said,

“Far too many bodybuilders spend too much time exercising the smaller muscle groups such as the biceps at the expense of the larger muscle groups such as the thighs, and then they wonder why it is that they never make gains in overall size and strength.”

Yup.

Lotsa guys mix this up.

They think I want big arms so I’ll train biceps.

or I want a chest that pops so I’ll do dumbbell flies.

Specific exercise for specific growth right?

Noooo sir.

Its one of those weird but true elements to building a balanced, muscular physique.

You have to train your body how it wants to be trained.

When you don’t – it will refuse to pack on muscle and shed fat – no matter how many hours you’re forced to sweat in front of a screen or slave in a gym.

The cool thing is when you train your body this way you don’t really need all the much time.

I’m talking like 3-4 hours a week… MAX.

If some guy can’t commit to that minimal amount he has larger problems in his life that he needs to get under control.

So ease up on the isolation exercises.

Start looking into the big boy lifts – squats, deadliest and so on.

If you follow the exact regimen with them I give you in A Spartan Rises you are guaranteed to pack on muscle.

Here’s What Albert Einstein Taught Me About Getting Jacked

Did you know that Albert Einstein -the guy who basically figured out how the universe works- tried to take up golf but gave it up because it was too complicated?

It sounds like a joke, doesn’t it?

But I’m totally serious.

The story goes something like this…

Late in his life, a colleague convinced Einstein to give golf a try.

At his first lesson, the instructor kept yelling tip after tip after tip as Albert hacked away at the ball.

Topping off one, completely missing the next, slicing the one after that.

His instructor, Gigi Carnivale, kept yellling…

“Keep your head down!”

“Keep your back straight!”

“Bend your knees!” And on and on and on.

But Einstein still couldn’t make solid contact.

Finally the scientist had enough, picked up a bunch of balls and hurled them all at Carnivale!

Carnivale swatted at the balls, ducking and dodging.

“What did you do that for?!!” cried Carnivale.
“Young man”, Einstein said, “when I throw you one ball, you catch it.  However, when I throw you four balls, you catch nothing!  So when you teach, make only one point at a time!”

Do You Sometimes Feel Like Einstein?

I’m guessing you know how the world’s greatest genius felt when you try to sort through all the workout advice on the internet. Seems like there’s some new, complex workout or

supplement or whatever every day.

Problem is they don’t follow Einstein’s advice…

If you can’t explain it simply,

you don’t understand it well enough.
-Albert Einstein

Now, I don’t claim to be a genius.

But I agree with Einstein about simplicity.

I consider it my mission to make getting a ripped hard body simpler for you… not more complex.

How do I do this?

Three ways that I think Einstein would appreciate…

  1. I focus on the 20% of activities that give you 80% of your results
  2. I focus as much on “outside the gym” activities as I do “inside the gym” activities
  3. I focus on the mental aspect (simplicity, motivation, focus) as I do on the physical.

And it works like gangbusters.

Got lil motivational tidbit for ya today

Got lil motivational tidbit for ya today.

Also a few powerful nuggets to use ASAP.

Cept this one isn’t written by me.

Got this from Tyler, A Spartan Rises graduate:

===

“The biggest concept and or strategy I’ve learned is making one change at a time.

Not doing everything at once, “slowing the car down before you turn it around” as you put it.

Because like you said, turning the wheel when your going full speed and your just going to flip over. What makes this way of life so much better then others is the way the Spartan 7 is structured.

I might work out Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday for that spartan 7..

I may not be super huge or a bodybuilder, but after implementing small changes one at a time!

I’ve been able to do things I never thought possible, like drink only water..

Never thought I could do that, not forever but hey.. we’re not talking forever were only talking about 7 days!

A Spartan 7!

It’s easy when it’s laid out like that.

And I’m climbing the Spartan Strength Ladder which is the name of the game.

And the last thing I’ll mention which has hit home the most with me

“if you keep doing what you’ve always done…You’ll keep getting what you’ve always gotten”

playing that over in my head whenever I make a decision for the gym, my work life, my family life has really changed things around for me for the better.

If you want something to be different then you gotta do something different!

The smallest decisions make up the majority of results! 80/20!!

Love the spartan way!

Love the coaching emails!

For sure worth the money!

Other programs don’t offer this kind of support.

Keep up the good work!”

Don’t Fall for the Most Worthless Fitness Advice on the Planet

This always cracks me up.

You’ve probably heard it a million times too.

Spewed out of the mouth of experts like they’ve just told you one of life’s greatest secrets.

That all you need is “diet & exercise” to change your body.

Lol WOW stop the press… what mind-blowing advice!

Goes right up there with “sales & customer service” are all you need to run a successful business.

Totally non-actionable, worthless advice.

That everyone “knows”.

Right?

So everyone knows how to change their body (diet & exercise), they just don’t do it because they’re lazy?

Naw.

Here’s what I think happens.

First off, most men want to be stronger, in shape and healthy.

Life is a lot more pleasant when you don’t get winded going up the stairs, don’t have to hide under your shirt at the beach or get lobster faced trying to move the couch.

So they have the desire, the yearning, the motivation.

What happens next is where they screw it up.

This where the fitness magazines, TV informercials and gymcest broscience get most of ’em.

They start looking for a workout.

Do’h!

They try various workouts only to experience little to no physical changes.

Keep trying.

Keep getting frustrated.

The “workout” is only one part of The Spartan Triad.

If you’re not using all three parts, you’re body isn’t changing.

It’s that simple.

BUT…  as soon as you switch to using all three elements (as taught in A Spartan Rises) the changes become so dramatic your friends will start wondering if you’re on something.

Like Rik F.’s peers noticed:

===

Into the final week of the program and still climbing up the strength ladder nicely. I’ve been going to the gym for nearly a year now but I’ve had more compliments in the last month or so than the previous 11 combined! It’s not a coincidence!!!

===

You can build a lean Spartan physique without wasting hours in the gym working out (I sure don’t) or loading up on dangerous drugs.

The thing is you have to train SMARTER to do this.

Which means we gotta install the right mindset in ya.

Precisely why A Spartan Rises includes 9 weeks of mindset programming too.

Do you have a lead foot

Ever gotten a speeding ticket?

Whoops – sorry to stir up bad memories!

What about those speed signs that flash your SPEED IS at ya when driving by… seen’em?

Drove past a few the other day and while they may seem useless – studies show they slow lead footers down 14% +.

<But Doctoreeee, what does this have to do with getting into badass Spartan shape??>

Patience grasshopper.

The dynamic speed sign is an example of a feedback loop.

Goal: Get drivers to adjust speed

Step 1. Data is captured (radar zaps you)

Step 2. Captured data is processed and reported in an emotionally engaging manner (YOUR SPEED IS… SLOW DOWN)

Step 3. You ponder over this new data and what path to take (slow down, stay same, speed up like vroooom!)

Step 4. Action.

*REPEAT*

So what’s the difference between an average guy working out, surfing the net, trying to get in shape and a recruit in A Spartan Rises?

Simple.

The recruit harnesses the power of feedback loops.

In particular, Rapid Strength Loops.

Right from the get-go we kick off with coaching on installing these custom Rapid Strength Loops into their training so they start experiencing real feedback on their strength gains and progress.

Once they’re outta the gate you can’t stop’em.

They’ve gotten hooked on the loop and can’t wait to train more.

Powerful, powerful stuff.

Compare that to someone not enrolled in A Spartan Rises.

Biggest sticking point I often see is a broken feedback loop.

Goal: Get in shape

Step 1. No -or- WRONG data is captured (silly stuff like scale, body measurements or mirror)

All other steps are null & void because assumptions are now based off faulty data.

Do’h!

Nobody should suffer through that endless void of ‘is this working?’.

Hop on the Spartan wagon and discover what you’ve been mission.

You’ll see more progress in week 1 than you have in your last 6 months.

Guaranteed.

Do Not Try Another Chest Workout Until You Read This

Want to build a mighty, masculine chest?

Great.

First, let’s make sure you aren’t doing this…

Most Common Chest Building Mistake & How to Avoid It

Here’s a question I get a lot:

“How heavy should my reps for dips and bench press be?”

The answer is: as heavy as you can safely go.

With the dips (and bench press) we are essentially taking a meat cleaver

and tearing down the muscle fibers in your chest (that’s a good thing).

But that only happens if you are lifting heavy enough to do the tearing down.

So, go big on these two exercises.

Don’t think “I’ll take it easy here and work harder on the other exercises to make up for it”.

These two exercises are where you should spend 80% of your energy if you want max results fast.

The other exercises are “carving knives”.

The Great Temptation…Don’t Give In To It

And here’s where a lot of guys get off track and don’t get the hard body they’re looking for as fast as possible.

They pay more attention to the “finishers” than they do to the “meat cleavers”.

The meat cleavers are H-A-R-D.

Believe me, I know.

And I know it’s so tempting to just say “I’ll spend more time on the other carving knife exercises”.

Don’t give in to that temptation.

This is just another example of my 80/20 philosophy.

No matter what body part you’re working on, there are “80” exercises and there are “20” exercises.

If you spend 80% of  your time on the 80s, you’ll get max results.

But if you spend 80% of your time on the 20s… you’ll stall out and get frustrated and maybe even quit.

AND MOST GUYS SPEND 80% OF THEIR TIME ON THE 20s!

I used to do that.

And then I wised up – stopped wasting time and energy, and started getting the results you see today by following the path in A Spartan Rises.

It’ll add lean muscle to your chest & the rest of your body – so you walk away with a bold masculine frame that radiates a strong presence.
