Sometimes All You Need in Life Is…

Gotta nice lil tidbit for you today.

You’re gonna wanna file this one away, cuz you can use it until the day you die.

This past week I attended  an entrepreneur business conference where I spoke on online & YouTube marketing strategies.

Had a blast.

Early on the host shared an interesting clip with us from the movie We Bought a Zoo.

Apparently the movie is crap BUT the lil segment we watched was pretty powerful.

In it, Matt Damon was telling his son about how was scared out of his mind when he first saw  his (soon to be) wife sitting in coffee shop.

He stopped dead in his tracks and froze as this was the most beautiful woman he’d seen in his life.

Then remembered what his brother had told him:

“You know, sometimes all you need is 20 seconds of insane courage, just literally 20 seconds of embarrassing bravery, and I promise you something great will come of it.”

Started the timer on his watch, strolled into the coffee shop and stroke up a conversation.

If you think about it, that’s often all you really need to get over whatever ‘fear’ is holding you back.

20 short seconds of courage.

To finally ask for that raise

To approach the beautiful girl you just locked eyes with

To take the leap & become your own boss

To start your life on a whole trajectory

To whatever you desire, big or small.

Just 20 seconds.

Make it yours.

PS – A great way to quickly call up those 20 seconds is having the on-demand strength required to harness’em.  Physical strength sure, but also the mental fortitude that comes with it, just as you’ll discover as you progress through A Spartan Rises.

Seven Best Exercises for a Muscular Spartan Physique

Let me be perfectly blunt:

You don’t need to waste mindless hours in the gym to build a Greek god physique.

You DO need to work hard.

And do what 95% of other guys at the gym won’t do.

Cuz they wanna just do bicep curls in front of the mirror all day.

In fact, in most cases you can look at what everyone is doing, then DO THE OPPOSITE and you’ll be better off.

Back in the day the ancient Spartans were sitting there looking at all of these other greek city states and they said to themselves not only are we going to be the best, but we’re going to best ourselves, really competing against ourselves and therefore we’re not going settle for being average.

What they asked was “How do I take it to that whole next level?”

So if you adopt a Spartan mindset than what you really want to do is not just workout.

A workout is a series of motions.

The whole Spartan ideal is to I have to do these set things to build the core so that I’m prepared to go to that next level.

It’s a subtle but very important mindset shift.

And it came about because Spartans had a physical core.

They prided to themselves on being stronger, more energetic, more capable.

So you start getting a Spartan body by building your Spartan Strength Core and from there develops the mindset aspect, the mental toughness.

Because it’s hard to be mentally tough when you’re physically weak, depleted and drained.

No need to waste time of pointless exercises that barely move the needle.

Instead, focus on the Spartan Seven:

1. Squats
2. Bench Press
3. Deadlifts
4. Standing Press
5. Dips
6. Chin-ups
7. Hanging Leg Lifts

That’ll put you miles ahead of your fellow gym rats.

If you use the Spartan Strength Ladder along with the correct reps & sets covered in A Spartan Rises you’ll be on the fast track to being the guy who never hesitates taking his shirt off at the beach.

Just like Cameron C. did,

“You have already impacted my training in an amazing way. What I learned from the initial phase of the program was how to have a mindset to train. My friends are saying, “Seriously, are you working out a lot because you’re looking bigger”.’

Re-watched a great flick this weekend.

Re-watched a great flick this weekend.

I remember the first time I saw it my jaws dropped to the floor during the crazy fight scenes.

The Matrix.

A big underlying theme of that movie is making a CHOICE.

If you pay close attention you’ll see it in multiple scenes but the most popular is “red pill” scene.

This is when the main character (Neo for any of you whipper snappers who haven’t actually seen it) is given the choice between swallowing down a red pill or blue pill. If he takes the red pill he will be shown the truth (reality as he knows it doesn’t exist… it’s all a lie).  If he takes the blue pill, he lives on in blissful ignorance, thinking he’s free while he’s actually being used up as energy for the machines that have enslaved humans.

So he went for the red pill.

Gets ejected from the ‘illusion’ world and sees reality for what it is.

Well, guess what?

Every day you have a similar choice.

Take the red pill or the blue pill.

I make you this offer every time I mention A Spartan Rises.

When you stubbornly refuse to subscribe, you are chokin down the BLUE pill.  You go on unaware the power of the Spartan simplicity and strength approach to training.  How building a ripped Spartan-like physique doesn’t require hours and hours of cardio or time in the gym (when you’re doing the right things).  And how it can bring you a calm, warrior-state peace of mind you’ll never find pursuing long cardio, giant-sets, or the latest fitness fad.

Then, there’s the red pill.

That’s what A Spartan Rises is.

Only a few swallow it.

Hey, deep down, most guys are scared of work, change and the inevitable success that follows.

(It’s a huge problem in society).

Now, I don’t know the future.

And I didn’t send this today to tell you how it’ll end.

I’m writing to tell you how it begins.

I’m going to offer A Spartan Rises and a few will begin the journey. When that happens, I’m going to show them what all the blue-pill fitness wizards don’t want them to see.

A world where others look up to you and wonder what is your ‘secret’? (plus a few will flat-out envy you)

A world without endless fitness gimmicks or complicated workouts controlling your life.

A world… where you are moving forward every day, powered by purpose.

Where you go from there…

…is a choice I leave to you…

One Routine to Rule Them All & in the Darkness…

On a bit of movie kick this week.

Caught the end of Lord of the Rings (solid flick… good book too!) last night and I had to tell you this.

‘Tis a story about a pack of hero’s venturing out on a quest to destroy the ‘One Ring’.

Ring was created by a bad, bad dude who wanted to rule the world (who doesn’t?).

It was the end all be all.

You got this ring… you got everything baby.

Kinda like what most fitness ‘wizurds’ proclaim to you from upon high in their ivory tower.

One Routine to rule them all.

You get their routine and you’ll get it all. Oh by the way… ONLY their routine works. All others do not.

Big, big problem with this.

Not because their workout doesn’t work.

Problem is… it sends you on the wrong quest.

A never-ending quest of hunting the dark depths of the internet & fitness mags in vain hopes of discovering the ‘One Routine’.

Sound familiar?

Here’s how it really works, A-B-C style.

It’s like taking a trip to visit family (that you actually like).

There are many ROADS you can take:
• City streets – congested with traffic & lights
• Back dirt roads – long and desolate
• Gravel roads – bumpy, dusty, but plenty of them
and they’ll all get you there, eventually.

But you pay a toll.

As in 3x more time required, motivation sapped quickly… most guys end up turning back and start trying another road. A few do make it though.

So here’s the question… Why not take the highway??

That’s what I did.

That’s what lotsa other guys are doing, including Gene who sent me this:

“Great program, Ryan!

Thank you for putting together and making the “High-way” available. You are adding quality and value to the lives of people around the world when you simplify and articulate the best techniques for growth and good health.

Please keep looking out for all of us, Coach.”

You can too.

I’m teaching busy men like you how to build solid muscle quickly by taking the highway. And I’m doing it with my Muscle Growth Formula.

Yes, you can pack on muscle without throwing your life away. Without taking the desolate, never-ending dirt roads. It’s easier than you think too. Here’s where to go next:

Not sure about you, but I hated 7th grade.

Not sure about you, but I hated 7th grade.

It was the worst.

Particularly 4th period gym class.

Not cuz I didn’t like PE.. I did!

Especially when we played dodgeball.

Do they even let kids play that anymore?

Anyways, my stomach would sink when class was ending.

‘Cuz that meant I had to go to the locker room and change.

Which meant I’d be right next to Chris.

Which meant I was getting put in a headlock, having my hair messed around with or shoved into the lockers for a bit (on a good day).

The bad days were spent as the butt of jokes which echoed across the entire locker room, sometimes lingering on throughout the day.

And ya see Chris was a bigger boy so didn’t feel like there was much I could do.

He wasn’t super muscular or anything.

Just taller and a ‘lil ahead in the prepubescent development cuz he had been held back… twice.

I never wanted to be ‘bigger’ so I could whoop up on ‘em.

I just wanted to be invisible.

So I could be left alone and do my own thing, have some peace ya know?

But I guess cuz I was the skinny dorky guy I hung the proverbial ‘pick on me’ sign around the neck.

Hey, the world can be a cruel place.

It’s even crueler if you project weakness (intentionally or unintentionally).

Do the lions hunt down & chase the fastest zebra of the herd?

No way.

They pick off the slow ones.

The weak ones.

Life is exponentially harder at the bottom.

You gotta fight extra hard to RISE up and fight even harder to stay there.

Otherwise it’ll keep digging it’s boot nice and tight on your neck.

In case it isn’t obvious, this goes way beyond tossing some weights around on a Friday afternoon.

That’s where A Spartan Rises comes in.

Yea, you’re gonna stack on more lean muscle and burn fat more effectively with Spartan Inferno training.

But more importantly you’re reach deep inside and stroke those fires necessary for permanante change.

Rise up: Join A Spartan Rises

PS – Clayton C. posted this in the Spartan Stronghold:

“Look yourself in the mirror, and tell yourself be to ready for a change. Not only in body and mind, but also, in behavior. I feel the whole point of all of Ryan’s teachings, motivations, and the hand picked “visitors” is to not only get in amazing shape, but also to become more alpha. Top dog if you will. (Think animal kingdom) soon you will notice stress is no longer a negative but rather a challenge.”

No Workout Ever Survives Contact with Reality

Helmuth von Moltke was one badass dude.

Never heard of him?

Well, he was a Chief of Staff of the Prussian Army back in the day.

Strategically led Prussian armies to victories that paved the way for creation of the German Empire.

Considered one of the great military minds of later 19th century.

I love one of his famous quotes:

“No battle plan ever survives contact with the enemy.”

How true.

Even beyond the battlefield.

Especially when it comes to training.

Every workout in existence just tosses you a nice naive paper plan that NEVER survives first contact with YOUR reality – work pressures, family responsibilities and social commitments.

So you’re left with this no-win, all or nothing training approach.

But with The Spartan 7 you get the FLEXIBILITY to deal with reality.

You’re able to roll with it, adapt.

Which means you ACTUALLY stick to it and FINISH.

Throw in your almost daily Spartan mindset coaching and you can’t lose.

Just like these Spartans-in-training have found:

“I’m working through my first week of the Spartan training and I want to thank you for creating this straight-forward program. I look forward to working hard at this”

-Manuel T.

“God Bless these workouts. I look forward to doing them every morning, and really think the program is keeping me level headed in dealing with the rest of my crazy schedule.”

-Jack L.

But that’s just one of the powerful Spartan training methods. There’s actually many more.

You’ll get them all in A Spartan Rises.

The training is powerful. It’s effective. And it comes with a full  money-back guarantee. If you’ re interested, go to:

Dirty Little Secret of 90-Day Workouts

Had a buddy tell me a story the other day.

He was really upset & frustrated.

Tried one of those 90-day workout programs, followed it to the T… but didn’t look ANYTHING like cover model at the end of it.

“What gives??”

Well… lotsa mismanaged expectations going on.

Probably stems from the “90-day workout in a box” scam marketing you see all over the web.

Sure man… you can look like that cover model in just 90 days.

Dirty truth is maybe 1 out of every 200 guys can.

MAYBE.

Not because they worked harder or did something secret.

It’s because we all have different STARTING points.

You think those cookie cutter workout in box programs know you just got into lifting last week, that your 50 lbs overweight and think a protein shake is hand gesture of some kind?

Or perhaps you’ve been lifting for several years, not making progress, and are trying to get shredded fast.
Is the same workout-in-a-box gonna get the job done for both of em?

In the words of the great philosopher Dion Sanders,

“C’MON MAN!”

Who wants to waste their time with that road to nowhere?

Not me – way too busy.

Hopefully not you either.

That’s why I train and teach with Savage Spartan Workouts.

Short.

Intense.

P-o-w-e-r-f-u-l.

Best part is Savage Spartan workouts continually evolve and adapt to YOU – based on your shifting goals, time availability and level of skill.

Zero time wasted.

Max results gained.

You can get yours in my upcoming A Spartan Rises monthly program.

Not open yet, but coming very soon.

Chilling Case of Missing Results

Got this question about MIA results.

“Thanks for all the emails you send in. I have a question and I think you can answer it.

I train a lot but I don’t see much progress, this sucks because I eat well and train a lot and you know
hard work has to pay off.

What do you think i’m doing wrong is there something more people like me dealing with?”

Welll…

Really broad question there, but comes in so much (in different forms) we might as well nip it in the butt.

Some variations include:

• I’m XX years old… is it too late for me?
• Are genetics holding me back?
• Why am I not seeing results?
Two reasons for results that are MIA.

1. Checking the wrong ‘progress’ markers

and/or

2. Doing something sub-optimally / incorrect

It’s surprisingly formulaic.

If you simply follow w + y + x… you’ll get z.

If you’re not getting z, you’re not following w + y + x.

Too many fitness wizards wanna confuse you by dumping useless, conflicting info into the mix.

Leading you down rabbit holes to nowhere but frustration.

Not me, I take the simple approach.

Was talking to Cole a few days ago about this. He’s going through my Muscle Growth Formula

Told me he’s dropped five pounds, arm’s are starting to expand and getting firmer.

But what he liked best was how easy it was to understand.

We’ll see what happens. But I’m rooting for him! If you’d like to see the tips I showed him, go to:

3 Ways to Ruin Any Chance of a Six-Pack

So the fitness ‘wizards’ chant about cardio a lot.

Now it is true if you want six-pack abs, you gotta focus on your food intake and energy training.

But you DON’T need to suffer through hours of long, boring cardio or go on starvation diets.

If you were hanging with me and my best friend Brad this weekend you’d shake your head in disbelief at what your Doctore was scarfin down:

• Chocolate chip pancakes
• Syrup-laden french toast
• Frosty, cold local Denver craft beers
• Juicy burger with fried egg on top (plus fries!)

Shocking, I know!

But hey, when you train the Spartan way, you don’t have to give up your life.

Fitness is about strengthening your life (and enjoyment of) NOT running it.

So when it comes to fat-loss training and getting those six-pack abs to POP, make sure you’re not doing any of this:

• Long marathon runs outside, on treadmill or elliptical
• Cardio training too close to lifting
• Too much cardio training (you’d be surprised how little you need)

There’s a lot more but those are the most common.

To avoid making those time-wasting mistakes, and to get the fat melting ASAP off start adding in Spartan Inferno training.

Yea it’s tough, but hey it works and it takes less time.

That’s how I did it, and you can too.

KISSing in the Cruise Ship Hot Tub

Well that was a blast!

Just got back from an epic cruise to the Bahamas.

Never been on one before so wasn’t sure what to expect.

Being surrounded with beautiful weather, beautiful beaches and beautiful women is quite a recharging experience.

If you haven’t taken one I strongly suggest looking into it – you can snag some great deals if you hunt online.

One thing I’m a sucka for is hot tubs.

Was relaxing in one when one of the fellas in it started chattin about workin out.

As he delved into what he was doing my eyes started to glaze over.

Not from the frozen margaritas.

But getting lost in the complexity of his explanation of super-sets with chest day and drop-sets with arms followed up by dumbbell day.

Wha?

He want to know what I thought.

I asked him one simple question & he looked at me like I had two heads.

“Do you take a protein shake after you workout?”

No he did not.

Sigh.

I remember when I used to get trapped in the ‘shiny object’ workout syndrome too.

Try this new exercise, this new supplement, this new trick and the ‘body’ is yours.

All they add up to is massive complexity which leads to minimum results (if any).

Once I went backwards and took the KISS (keep it simple stupid) approach, everything changed.

Spent less time in the gym.

Less time on nutrition.

Which lead to faster muscle gain.

Just by taking everything in one bite at a time.

Which is why A Spartan Rises is the only training experience that progressively trains and teaches you.  So it stays simple, you stay actionable and your physique doesn’t stay the same.

Just like David P. discovered

“These weekly segments have been awesome, by the way.  Keeps it simple with steady progression that is more attainable.  I finally feel like I am making progress.”
